Article about TownTalks
Here's an article from May 28 about the TownTalk on May 26. There were a couple of dissenting voices early on in the meeting, but it seemed to me that most of the people present wanted to participate in the discussion. The organizers from Decoma stated clearly at the beginning that the community was the driving force of the project, and not the developers. Everyone in the small group that I was part of for most of the evening was eager to give their opinions and share their concerns. As far as I could tell, everyone at my table trusted the facilitators and was happy to participate.

I think it went well. Those that wanted to express their opinions were heard. I think those that fear change probably left the meeting unhappy, and those that welcome it left the meeting feeling optimistic. Personally, I trust Decoma's taste better than the taste of some of the residents. I think we're in good hands. But I might be a minority in that, I'm not sure.
Was this meeting another "divide and conquer", or did they let folks stay in a single group? As to whether to trust Decoma (or the city redevelopment agency, for that matter), that remains to be seen, I guess.
