Those Green Parrots

I found this website that has information on the wild parrots of California. I have friends who recently saw The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill and said that it was fascinating.

I remember the first time I noticed the parrots: I was walking near USC when this noisy, green cloud passed over me. At first, I thought I had imagined it, they seemed so out of place in downtown L.A. And now, living in South Pas, I see (and hear) them on an almost daily basis. It's amazing how you can begin to tune out something that once seemed so alarmingly different. I must pay my respects to the green parrots.

Interesting - well, I don't know, I think it is. I'm kind of fascinated by their consistent behavior.

When I first moved to South Pas a couple years ago, the parrot flock arrived each day at 1:00 p.m. and took over the tree outside my bedroom.

For the last few months, the parrot flock has arrived outside my bedroom at precisely 7:04 a.m. - okay, I can deal with that.

For about 5 days now, they've been arriving at precisely 5:40 a.m.

I love the parrots, really I do, but I love them less when the sun is barely up - so, I hope they adapt to daylight savings time by returning to their slightly later arrival time!

The parrots' squawking could cut through concrete walls, methinks.

I've heard that these parrots ancestors were released from a Pasadena pet store, in the 1930s, during a fire in the building.
