Howling at the Moon

I knew about the green parrots, but coyotes?

According to the South Pasadena Review 2004 YIR:

Concerned over reports of aggressive coyotes in the southeast portion of the city, South Pasadena city officials are making efforts to capture some of the wild animals and have them destroyed.

With the use of snare traps, Los Angeles County officials hope to trap the coyotes and euthanize them.

Uncharacteristically, some of the animals have demonstrated bold behavior in approaching some residents, say city officials.

Michael Pusateri writes in his blog (cruftbox.com) about a run-in with a coyote and his attempt to track coyotes in the land behind his house. And South Pasadena seemed so tame...

they are not uncommon to see here at Orange Grove & Grevelia, along with many possums, skunks & raccoons.

my g/f saw a coyote on Orange Grove just last week, just north of the freeway.

We have seen them walking down our street (a block over from Mike Pusateri). They use the PG&E right of way as their thoroughfare, mainly.

Saw one yesterday morning (6/7) at about 6:45am at the corner of Oxley and Park! It seemed pretty harmless, just out trotting about.
