When Ostriches Fly
In my continuing effort to scour the internet for references to all things South Pas, I came across this page describing Team Ostrich Airlines' participation in Red Bull Flugtag Los Angeles 2004. The website describes the Flugtag below:
The team, headed by Andy Groeneveld, is from South Pasadena and is obviously an homage to the Cawston Ostrich Ranch. (Marielle, you might be interested to note that librarians are mentioned twice in the team write-up.)
Flugtag means "flying day" in German, but more importantly, it's American for a bunch of creative geniuses strapping themselves to totally outrageous home-made, human powered flying machines and launching themselves off a 30-foot ramp into the wild blue yonder, or alternatively straight into the water.

Bookworm, my ear. More like Book Warrior.
I think it would be interesting to help out with the construction of the flying machine for this year's Flugtag.
