It Was Feta

We have been buying produce from the farmer's market on a regular basis recently. We haven't been getting quite enough to last a whole week, but I think we're going to try to do that as much as possible from now. The only downside is that things don't always stay good a full week. We have been replenishing our supply at Wild Oat's since they sell organic fruits and vegetables. I think, depending on what and how much we buy, we could make our purchases stretch for a whole week.

Anyway, that's not what I really wanted to write about. Two words: feta and olives. I wanted to write down the name of the guy that sells feta and olives and the farmer's market, but I forgot to check the container this morning. Both items are on par with any black olives and feta that I've ever had. Of course, I've never been to Greece.

Oh, the next time you go, do yourself a favor and get a large container of Rainier cherries. You won't be sorry.

Got '2 cups worth' of the cherries last night and very happy about it. I also bought an enormous lavender shrub for only $3.50! The farmer's market is rad.

We like the market a lot too, but like you, we find that most of our goods go before a week's up. I've taken to keeping unripe things out for just a half-day (or however long it takes to ripen up), then jam them into an extra cold compartment of the fridge. That helps. And we freeze what we can (Nana's tortillas, etc.).

I have to plug Eliki Olive Oil, the company that sells the amazing olives and feta at the Farmer's Market. I'm pleading with you: the next time you're there, stop by and try them. If like olives and feta, I guarantee you'll lay down the drachmas.
