The Dude Abides

Saturday night was interesting. Thena performed a couple of songs at a benefit for an organization called the Torch Foundation in one of the buildings at Heritage Square (the Perry residence). We were able to take a tour of one of the other buildings in the museum, a residence called the Hale House (a little surreal considering it was dark, the house was dimly lit, and our guides were two people in Victorian garb).

An hour later, we were sitting iniside the Rialto watching the midnight showing of The Big Lebowski. It's one of my favorite movies (if not the favorite), but I had never seen it on the big screen. It was definitely worth not getting to bed until 3 (although, the next morning I could feel each one of my thirty-one years in all its glory).

Here's a link to someone else who blogged about seeing the Dude in South Pas.

It is hard to beat an evening at the Rialto. Poor technical features be damned, one can't beat the intimacy and sense of history there. Some of my most satisfying cinema experiences have been there, and that it is within walking distance of home is icing on the cake. The only thing that makes a night at the Rialto better is walking across the street to The Book House afterward.
